| Prerequisites: Handgun Technique This class is spread over three days, one day and two evenings, for the beginning to intermediate level shooter. This course is designed for persons who have decided to arm themselves for home or business defense and concentrates on the role of the concealed handgun in personal protection. The fundamentals of safe and capable firearms handling are taught and reinforced throughout and include a focus on the dynamic approach to surviving an armed confrontation. An emphasis is place on the defensive application of firearms skills in the home, street or business development. For the new shooter or gun owner, this course uses a step-by-step approach to enhance rapid skill development utilizing instructor coaching. This course offers an update on effective defensive handgun skills as well as a review of sound fundamentals and tactics. During the course, you will: -Learn how to safely handle and store firearms in the home and professional environment -Address the legal and moral aspects of the defensible use of deadly force -Learn how to safely and effectively utilize your skills in a stressful encounter, including loading, reloading, and clearing malfunctions -Learn the all-important skill of drawing and recovering to a holster, one handed, without looking -Learn how to effectively engage multiple targets -How to pivot and turn safely with a firearm Student Required Equipment:
Pen and notepad, baseball cap w/front bill, eye and outside ear protection. Semi-auto pistol calibers of 9mm, 40SW or .45 Auto or revolver in .38 Spl. (no other calibers allowed).
Support Equipment:
Sturdy waist belt, holster, extra pistol magazines (2 minimal), revolver speed loaders/speed strips, gun cleaning kit/equipment.
Length: 3 days: Sunday 7/19, 8am - 5pm Monday 7/20, 6pm - 10pm Tuesday 7/21, 6pm - 10pm Note: Course cost does not include ammo.
